Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis) in situ

Most of my trips start out with a dream of seeing a species. Australia in 2016 was no different. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to go look for green tree pythons, and that was enough for me.

We ended up finding two. This was our first. He was in ambush position on the side of the road and stuck out like a sore thumb in the beams of our flashlights. He never moved while we carefully photographed him and we left him as we found him.
