Black-tailed Rattlesnake
(Crotalus molossus molossus)
If you’ve been reading through these descriptions, you’ll have realized that the photos I selected for this exhibition are my favorite photos I’ve ever taken, and this photo is not any different. I took this photo in the Del Nido Mountains in Chihuahua, Mexico while looking for a rare rattlesnake (see the photo of Crotalus willardi amabilis below). It was one of the best trips I have ever been on. We camped on the top of the mountain and were woken up every morning to the calls of thick-billed parrots (which feeds on pine nuts!). We found three species of rattlesnakes on the mountain and that weekend will always hold a special place in my heart.
